Daniel Farke’s ‘heartbreaking’ response to Leeds United’s dramatic draw at Hull City.

After watching his team blow a decisive lead at MKM Stadium, Daniel Farke called the way Leeds United’s thrilling 3-3 draw with Hull City played out devastating. After just five minutes, Abu Kamara skillfully lobbed Illan Meslier to give City the lead. Later in the first half, Regan Slater should have made it 2-0 when he struck the post with the goal at his mercy. Before their grandstand finish, Leeds turned the tide of the match when Ao Tanaka curled in the equalizer one minute into the second half. Former Tiger Dan James then made it 2-1 before Joel Piroe took advantage of an Ivor Pandur mistake to make it three. This left Ruben Selles facing their second loss in as many home games.

However, City rallied and regained the lead when Meslier mishandled Sean McLoughlin’s routine header, allowing Joao Pedro to hammer in from a yard out. The goalie then got involved again when he failed to come for a corner, which went straight to Kamara, who then guided in a beautiful volley to make it 3-3 and raise the roof at a sold-out MKM Stadium.

“I think the word disappointment is appropriate,” the German said to reporters. “We weren’t sharp enough in the first half. It will be hard to gain points in this league if we let ourselves drop two percent. It was true in both boxes. We did not terminate favorable circumstances. We didn’t finish well, and I don’t believe we’ve given up a goal that was less expensive than the one we gave up this season. They had the opportunity to score a second.

“I must say that the second half was a great reaction, and we performed what we discussed at halftime flawlessly. Daniel James had a one-on-one chance to end the game, but we could have scored four, five, or six. How we gave up two late goals without them truly having a chance is hard to understand. They managed to score in circumstances where you can’t ordinarily score. It’s hard to win games if you give up three goals. It’s devastating and frustrating to drive away with just one point after creating so many opportunities and scoring three. That’s the dominating sensation right now.
