Blackburn Rovers set to make move for versatile Crystal Palace veteran

Blackburn Rovers are considering an audacious effort to sign Crystal Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp, with a loan deal being discussed.

According to Alan Nixon, a temporary agreement is being considered before Schlupp’s possible permanent departure in the summer. Schlupp is now unpopular at Selhurst Park and will be out of contract at the end of the season.

The East Lancashire club is looking for reinforcements in their attempt to break into the top six, and Schlupp appears to be an astute addition who might help them achieve that goal.

Blackburn presently sits on the boundaries of the top six after an awful run of form during the festive period, which finished with a humbling home defeat to bitter rivals Burnley. The squad’s lack of depth was highlighted amid a mounting injury list.

John Eustace wants to add Jeffrey Schlupp to Blackburn Rovers squad in January

Rovers manager John Eustace is eager to bring Schlupp to Ewood Park in January to improve his side’s currently depleted squad, and his versatility is particularly appealing.

Schlupp can play in a variety of positions, including left back, left midfield, and centre midfield, making him an ideal addition to a Rovers squad that appears to be lacking in most areas.

Although the 32-year-old’s contract with Palace expires in the summer, Nixon suggests that a loan agreement in January may lead to a permanent summer transfer.

Although Schlupp has appeared 11 times for Palace in the Premier League this season, all of his outings have come off the bench, and he has recently been mostly an unused substitute, so a move to receive some first-team football may appeal to him.

Although Schlupp hasn’t played in the Championship in almost ten years, he has a promotion under his belt, and that experience could be crucial in helping Rovers eventually get into the top six.

They’ve gone close in recent years but have always fallen just short, but Eustace is desperate to ensure that doesn’t happen again, and Schlupp’s signing would undoubtedly help.
