BBC commentator states what he witnessed at Celtic Park v St Mirren he has ‘never’ seen before

Although it is undeniable that Celtic’s midweek loss to Rangers was painful, the festivities at Ibrox were short-lived. After Rangers and Hibernian tied 3-3 at noon, the champions increased their lead to 13 points a few hours later. That came after Celtic defeated St. Mirren by three goals to win the campaign’s seventeenth game and record their sixteenth clean sheet. However, there was some drama at the beginning of the second half that even shocked Alasdair Lamont, a BBC analyst.

Against St. Mirren, Celtic Park has a blackout.

Those inside Parkhead were in a blackout after the second half began, as if someone had forgotten to put money in the meter after Christmas. The blackout, which lasted less than a minute, caused Celtic TV to have an outage and be unable to continue providing its services. For a brief moment, the same thing occurred, and Lamont, the lead commentator on BBC Radio Scotland’s service, said he had “never” seen anything like this at Celtic Park.

“Whoa, there was a brief power outage at Celtic Park,” Lamont remarked. “We will continue to communicate just in case, but I truly don’t know if you are still with us.”Amazingly, all of the lights in Celtic Park went out. This is unlike anything I have ever seen. Not at Celtic Park, of course. That is a significant power outage. After that brief period of total blackout, play resumed very quickly.
