When Joel Piroe capitalized on a goalkeeping blunder to put Leeds United ahead 3-1 over Hull City 73 minutes in, there appeared to be only one possible winner.

 

There undoubtedly would have been under Tim Walter, but Ruben Selles has revitalized this club, and they kept their nerve to capitalize on two terrible Illan Meslier blunders, resulting in a 3-3 tie.

To make things even better, Abu Kamara scored their first and last goal.

Before the game, Kamara was paraded like a bad schoolboy to apologize for posting a cheerful face and a love heart on an Instagram picture, but the most of the fan rage was most likely caused by his inability to track back for Middlesbrough’s New Year’s Day victory.

 

But there was only one apology that was truly important, and Kamara gave it in the sixth minute. The MKM Stadium was shouting his name long before he scored the goal that gave his team a point that appeared out of reach.

Hull had grown into the first half, thanks to Kamara’s opening, but when a stunning Ao Tanaka goal broke their bubble less than a minute into the second, you worried for them, especially with Dan James and Piroe joining in.

However, with Meslier’s assistance, Hull achieved a result that should benefit them greatly.

Leeds opened the game aggressively, pushing the ball, and when Alfie Jones gave it up on the right touchline barely two minutes in, Kamara, who had been elevated to the XI to make apologies for his performance on the bench days before, won it back.
