Liverpool offer possible Ben Doak transfer hint that’s good news for Middlesbrough after award win

Ben Doak is on loan at Boro and could be recalled this month.

Liverpool have given the strongest indication that Ben Doak would stay at Middlesbrough for the rest of the season, as previously agreed in the summer.

The winger has performed admirably for Boro this season and is one of the Championship’s standout young players. His performance in November, when he assisted Michael Carrick’s side five times in five games, earned him the Championship’s Young Player of the Month title.

And, in a news release commemorating the accolade for the Liverpool prospect, the Reds’ club website hinted that he will stay at Boro until the end of the season. It comes as Liverpool has a clause in the loan agreement that allows them to recall him at any time this month, and Premier League clubs are thought to be keen.

Liverpoolfc.com announced his award win, saying: “The Scotland international claimed the prize following his excellent form for loan club Middlesbrough in the Championship.” Doak, who joins Boro for the 2024-25 season, had five assists in five league games in November.”

Boro will be hoping that the phrasing that claims Doak will be spending the entire campaign with Boro is correct, given how essential the pacy Scotland international has been to Carrick’s success this season. When asked about the recall clause when it initially surfaced, Carrick claimed he was at ease about the situation and that all sides were satisfied with the loan at the time, with Doak openly declaring how much he enjoys life at the Riverside thus far.

On receiving his medal, the 19-year-old stated: “It’s nice to be rewarded for my efforts, but I couldn’t have done it without the rest of the guys. I enjoyed the month, and I’m sure many of the guys did as well, because it was a good month for us. I have more assists than goals, but I’m simply pleased to help the club in any way I can.”
