The Blackburn Rovers loanee is back at Motherwell following an injury.
Jack Vale, who joined Motherwell from Blackburn Rovers, wants to get back to full match sharpness as soon as possible.
The striker joined Fir Park on loan for the second time during the summer transfer window, but he has been out since September due to an Achilles injury. He has been practicing with his parent club for the past few weeks and came off the bench in Motherwell’s 1-0 loss to Hearts on Thursday.
He’ll have the opportunity to improve his fitness in a bounce game on Friday before another Premiership clash with Aberdeen on Sunday. Vale told the Motherwell Times, “I’ve been injured for about 13 weeks.” Buzzing to be back in the squad, but certainly disappointed with the result.
“I think as a team, we simply need to bounce back against Aberdeen now. I only felt my soleus and Achilles, and then it popped during exercise. You have to be careful with the Achilles, but thankfully it wasn’t the worst. I performed my rehab as best I could, and I’m simply pleased to be back now.
“And I simply want to stay fit for the rest of the season. I predicted 10-12 weeks, but I believe it got up to 13 weeks. It’s over now, so I can’t change the past. But, as I already stated, I just want to get started right away and finish the season strong.”
Vale didn’t expect to be on the pitch at Tynecastle, but he was left wondering how he didn’t score after Craig Gordon denied him a leveller with a stunning reaction save. Match sharpness is now being targeted. He continued, “I did not anticipate him to save. I wasn’t really looking; I just noticed I had a solid contact at the back of my head, and it appeared he tipped it over, so it was a decent save. We are disappointed, but we can’t do anything about it right now.
“I was pleased to be a member of the squad. I didn’t expect to get on, but I thought I did my best when I did. I believe I’ll be playing in a friendly on Friday, so I could get some minutes there before returning to face Aberdeen. I believe it will take me a few games to catch up, but I am not concerned. I kept up my conditioning when I was injured, so it should be fine.”
