Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson has opened up on one unsung figure who has inspired him strive to realize his potential.
The Black Cats are coming off the back of a fantastic win at the Stadium of Light, which saw them overcome Sheffield United 2-1.
Goal scorers Eliezer Mayenda and Wilson Isidor guided Regis Le Bris’ team to the important victory on home ground, as well as Sunderland goalkeeper Anthony Patterson, who saved Kieffer Moore’s lackluster spot-kick in the first half.
The Black Cats shot-stopper was in good form in the win over Chris Wilder’s side, but there were a few tricky moments in respect to distribution, but he has proved to be a top performer this season having surrendered only 20 goals in 21 games.
Following his explosion of form this season, Patterson has complimented one crucial individual behind the scenes that has been instrumental in helping him achieve his level.

“Obviously Si (Simon Moore) is really experienced. He’s helped me a lot the past six months or so and I believe we’ve got a pretty solid group with Blondy in there as well and obviously Ali. We’re all extremely tight and we get on really well, so it’s good.”

Anthony Patterson knows what he needs work on to become a complete goalkeeper
Sunderland shot-stopper Patterson has been more than competent when it comes to coming up with critical saves and does very well to command his box. However, there is one area that he could do with tremendous development.
