Ruud van Nistelrooy’s comments on £14m player’s future will really concern Leicester City fans

Leicester City will expect numerous players to enter and leave King Power Stadium during the January transfer window.

It’s only the second day of January but various speculations have engulfed Leicester fans, with van Nistelrooy eyeing defensive reinforcements.

Along with numerous other players, Ben Godfrey, the centre-back for Atalanta who has been granted the all-clear to depart, has been linked to Leicester.

The manager of Leicester is also trying to get rid of some of his benchwarmers, and Sheffield United is showing interest in midfielder Hamza Choudhury.

While fans hope that one player’s loan is cancelled, Choudhury is not the only celebrity being linked to an escape.

Ruud van Nistelrooy expects Odsonne Edouard to stay at Leicester

Odsonne Edouard, a striker who was temporarily signed from Crystal Palace in the summer, is maybe the player that supporters like to see go the most.

Edouard, one of the two Premier League loan players Leicester was permitted to sign, has fallen short of expectations at the King Power Stadium, turning his tenure into a catastrophe.

Despite making eight appearances in all competitions, the Frenchman has only played 229 minutes in the Premier League and, perhaps more concerningly, has not scored a goal.

It was claimed by The Telegraph that Edouard will return to Crystal Palace this month, freeing up space for another Premier League loan.

However, van Nistelrooy’s stance on the forward – who cost Palace £14 million from Celtic – will not please many of a Foxes persuasion.

He expects Edouard along with fellow loanee Facundo Buonanotte to remain at Leicester beyond the January transfer window.

Speaking in Thursday’s press conference, the Dutchman said via Leicestershire Live: “Odsonne is part of our squad. He’s one of the two Premier League loans we have. We expect him and Facundo Buonanotte to be at the club.”
