Newcastle ‘Agree Deal’ to Sell ‘Outstanding’ Star

Newcastle United has agreed to trade goalkeeper Martin Dubravka to Al-Shabab this month, according to Asharq Al-Awsat.

The Magpies have won five consecutive games in all competitions, culminating in a 2-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Monday night.

But one of the players who started that game is now on the verge of departing St James’ Park permanently as Eddie Howe’s team attempt to generate funds to strengthen their squad in the winter window to challenge for Champions League participation.

According to reports from Saudi publications, Newcastle United and Al-Shabab have reached an agreement for Dubravka to relocate to the Middle East during the January transfer window.

The Slovakian shot-stopper’s current deal at St James’ Park is set to expire in the summer, so Newcastle can cash in on a player who was already poised to leave this year in a position where they have plenty of options.

Nick Pope is the current number one, while Howe’s team spent £20 million on Vlachodimos Odysseas in the summer, however he has made few appearances since joining from Nottingham Forest. The team is still interested in signing Burnley goalkeeper James Trafford, however a deal is more likely in the summer.

Dubravka, who has been regarded as “outstanding,” was connected with a move to Saudi in the summer. GIVEMESPORT sources recently disclosed that it was unclear if he would be willing to relocate there midseason.
