Ipswich could sign a perfect Delap replacement in “sharp” EFL star.
Kieran McKenna’s Ipswich Town team hopes to make it two wins from two in the Premier League when they travel to Fulham this weekend.
After all, the Tractor Boys just defeated a London-based first division team, Chelsea, 2-0, to end 2024 on a high note.
They’ll now travel to Craven Cottage with a bit between their teeth, despite the fact that some unpleasant distractions have returned with the transfer window slamming open.
Liam Delap’s future with Ipswich
The main unwanted piece of news concerns Liam Delap, with many Premier League clubs apparently eyeing the on-fire Tractor Boys centre-forward this January.
Chelsea is reportedly interested in signing the talented 21-year-old, having witnessed his impressive performance in a 2-0 win in December.
Liverpool is apparently trying to add Delap to their attacking lineup in January because to his exceptional speed.
Ipswich will hope that the former Manchester City player stays in Suffolk, but this could be a difficult task, especially if one of the named suitors is willing to spend a lot of money on the clinical striker.
If he leaves, replacing Delap will undoubtedly be priority number one at Portman Road, with this EFL sharpshooter being snatched up to fill the vacancy.
Ipswich’s Dream Delap replacement
Middlesbrough attacker Emmanuel Latte Lath, who was linked with a move to McKenna’s side last month, might be Ipswich’s ideal replacement.
The Tractor Boys will not be alone in pursuing Delap’s services, as West Ham United has also expressed interest.
The incredible solo shot above, made earlier this season, demonstrates an attacker who is quite similar to Delap in that he is continually looking to rush forward with lightning-quick pace before easily defeating the goalkeeper.
Michael Carrick’s team will do all in their ability to keep a strong grasp on the dangerous Ivorian, but his outstanding performances in the second tier during his time in England mean he is long overdue for a move to the Premier League.

Latte Lath has scored 25 goals in 64 Championship matches, including nine this season, surpassing Delap’s Premier League tally of seven.
Of course, the two-time Ivory Coast international is yet to be unleashed in the first flight, but McKenna has succeeded in extracting more from a number of EFL established stars when making the step-up, as evidenced by his team’s unexpected victory over Enzo Maresca’s side.
Carrick described Latte Lath as “sharp” after he scored against Sheffield United in October. He might still be a valuable addition to the squad, even if Delap stays in Suffolk because to a dearth of center-forward options.
However, the 25-year-old would like to make an impact in the Premier League as Ipswich’s major star, as the Tractor Boys prepare for a busy transfer window.
