Celtic sacked member of staff over leaked transfer list that included Chelsea star and ex-Man Utd player

Prior to the 2019–20 season, a document outlining Celtic’s transfer plans was leaked. In an attempt to find the mole who leaked the transfer document, the club took measures. After a meeting, cleaner Maureen Quinn was fired with immediate effect, while her son Edward Quinn was suspended from his security position at the club’s training facility in Lennoxtown.

The Daily Record quoted Maureen as saying, “It’s a disgrace.”I’m being held responsible for whatever this is, even though I haven’t done anything wrong. I’m confident my son wouldn’t do anything improper either. All we are are scapegoats. I wish to get my name cleared. She continued: “They pulled me in three times for meetings about this.”I empty bins as part of my job at Lennoxtown and wheel them to the bin room. I assume they think I found this paper in the bins, handed it to my son, and he took a picture of it.

“I couldn’t name half of Celtic’s players, but I support them because my husband and son do. What’s written on a piece of paper doesn’t matter to me at all.I was crying. I’m also devastated and sick for Edward. Reece James of Chelsea, who had just finished a season on loan at Wigan Athletic, and Scott McTominay of Manchester United, who joined Napoli last summer, were on the leaked transfer list.

The transfer record also listed Fikayo Tomori, who was a star for Derby County the season before, and James Justin, who left Luton Town for Leicester City. “This is an internal matter,” a Celtic representative stated at the time. We are confident that the club has behaved properly.

After working as a game steward for Celtic since 2008, Edward transitioned to security. “The training center employs about 30 people,” he stated. Celtic’s head of security and club lawyer interrogated every person in the building independently. My mother and I were given second interviews.

“A picture of a hand clutching a piece of paper was displayed to me. “I think they look like your nails,” my employer remarked. I pointed out to them that my nails are longer than they appear in the picture. After working as a game steward for Celtic since 2008, Edward transitioned to security.
