Sheffield United set sights on Championship striker, contract expiring in 2025
The January transfer window will see Sheffield United looking to recruit players. As they prepared for life in the championship once more, the Blades had a busy summer window, which has contributed to their successful campaign thus far. However, additional reinforcements—some compelled by injury—are required in January.
They have had success up top, where Tyrese Campbell has been playing well and Kieffer Moore has been settling in. To truly bolster the ranks for the remainder of the season, more depth is necessary.
The Sheffield United team is now keeping an eye on a new name. The Star claims that the Steel City team is interested in signing Emil Riis, a striker currently with Championship rivals Preston North End, as 2025 approaches.
After scoring a brace against Sheffield Wednesday last week, the 26-year-old, a key player at Deepdale, increased his season total to seven goals and two assists in 24 Championship outings. His contract expires in 2025, though, and it appears Sheffield United is hoping to take advantage.Although Preston North End should make every effort to retain Riis, the Lilywhites may face difficulties if Sheffield United attempts to negotiate a winter contract.
