Sheffield United plot move for 26-year-old despite Tom Cannon links

The 26-year-old has scored seven goals this season, including a brace against Sheffield Wednesday over the weekend, and the Blades are apparently interested in him, according to The Star. In 2025, Chris Wilder’s team will try to clinch a return to the Premier League. Nevertheless, they have lost both of their previous title games. Although it has only occurred three times this season, Leeds United has been able to take the lead going into the new year as a result.

Sheffield United is not just interested in the Dane; the Yorkshire team has also identified Tom Cannon of Leicester City, a 21-year-old striker now on loan at Stoke City, as a possible star for the future at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United interested in Jakobsen

According to The Star, Jakobsen has been selected as a player who can assist the Blades in improving their striking department in January. The 26-year-old has previously been a target of Wilder’s; in 2022, the Sheffield United manager made a £7 million approach for him, which Preston turned down.

However, if an attempt is made, the Lancashire team will be more exposed this time around because his contract is set to expire at the end of the current campaign. Wilder prioritizes adding more firepower up front since the only things threatening his team’s chances of promotion are injuries and a lack of cover. Jamie Hoyland, the chief scout for the Blades, has connections to the Lilywhites that may prove useful in the upcoming weeks.

Jakobsen is starting to prove himself as a solid Championship striker once again

Jakobsen’s final two seasons have been challenging; injuries marred the second half of his 2022–2023 season and the beginning of 2023–2024. He has, however, remained fit throughout the season, which has already enabled him to surpass his goal totals from the previous two seasons. He shown in 2021–2022, his first season at Preston, that he have the talent to play in the Championship, and he is on pace to nearly equal the 16 goals he scored three years prior.
