Reading FC provides takeover update and confirms legal proceedings against Dai Yongge from ‘outside party’
To provide supporters with an update on the ongoing takeover process, which has been going on for well over a year, Reading Football Club has issued a fresh statement.
After Noel Hunt’s team won back-to-back games in League One to maintain their spot in the top six, the Royals are having fun on the field, but off-field problems still affect the team.
The club has stated that short-term funding is the “priority” and that they are currently negotiating with a potential buyer.
They added that Dai Yongge, who has been identified as Rob Couhig, who tried to purchase the club earlier this year, is the target of “an ongoing litigation proceeding.”
“Negotiations with the potential buyer are still ongoing, with the club’s short-term funding taking priority at this time,” the statement said. The club acknowledges that our supporters would like the buyer’s identity to be verified, but for everyone’s sake, secrecy must be maintained at this point.
“As we reach the final stages of 2024, the club would like to put on record its thanks to a series of key stakeholders.
“To our Club Partners and Suppliers, thank you for consistently going above and beyond when working alongside the club.
“The ongoing commitment to the club is evident each week – and as we finish the calendar year with one of the strongest home records in the division, the part played by our supporters should not be underestimated.”
