‘Pretty unfair’: Portsmouth boss’ disappointment after travelling faithful turn on struggling Middlesbrough loanee

Some Pompey travellers at Ashton Gate chanted ‘Send him back, send him back’ at Sammy Silvera.

However, John Mousinho is certain that no individual player should be singled out for criticism after Pompey’s humiliating 3-0 defeat, with the entire team to blame.

The Middlesbrough loanee made his first start since the end of September, and his first in eight games, as he lined up on the left wing against Bristol City.

The Australian international has struggled to shine during a hugely disappointing Fratton Park spell, culminating in some fans among the 3,333 away following turning on him in the 55th minute.

Just nine minutes later, the 24-year-old was replaced by Josh Murphy and sent straight back to the locker room.

Mousinho told The News: “I hear the fans’ support for us.” For everyone who got it at Bristol City, I think it’s pretty unfair (on Silvera).

You can criticise the entire XI. ‘Do you know what? I felt Sammy had some pretty crisp moments in the first half, though I’ll have to review the game.

‘Rather than speaking in the heat of the moment, I will watch the game back and then see what I think after that.

‘You always look at the changes that we make, and after a particularly excellent performance on Boxing Day, you may point the finger of blame.’ Silvera, Owen Moxon, Paddy Lane, and Terry Devlin started against the Robins, with Zak Swanson, Callum Lang, Freddie Potts, and Murphy unexpectedly moved to the bench.

During the arduous festive season, Mousinho chose to freshen up his team by missing them from his starting lineup, and the result was a 3-0 deficit after 35 minutes.
