Juventus’ bid for Antonio Silva rejected by Benfica: Details revealed

According to Sky Sport Italia, Juventus is still interested in signing Antonio Silva, but Benfica is refusing to accept the offer.Silva remains the primary priority for Juventus’ defence, and Sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli and coach Thiago Motta see him as the ideal candidate to bolster their backline.

The 20-year-old Portuguese defender has apparently opened up about a move to Italy and is willing to leave Benfica. However, Juventus, who have opted to remove captain Danilo from the squad, are encountering opposition from the Portuguese club in their pursuit of Silva.

Cristiano Giuntoli made an initial offer, which Benfica swiftly rejected.

Following Jorge Mendes’ ‘formal’ opening, negotiations between Juventus and Benfica have heated up. The Italian club made an offer for a paid loan of 5 million euros with a 30-million-euro buyout clause. However, Benfica turned down this proposition.

Juventus will now need to reformulate their offer to try and secure agreement from the Portuguese club and provide Thiago Motta with a new defensive reinforcement. Meanwhile, the young defender awaits developments. This season, Antonio Silva has played seven matches in the league, scoring one goal against Santa Clara and providing an assist. The Portuguese defender has also featured for 184 minutes in the UEFA Champions League, starting against Red Star Belgrade and Bayern Munich, and making a brief appearance against Atletico Madrid.
