Everton hopeful of major injury return as four players make progress

Despite Dwight McNeil’s ongoing knee ailment, Everton is “hopeful” he will be available shortly.

Since his set pieces were crucial to the Blues’ 4-0 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers in early December, the midfield player has not played. Without his dead ball skills, the team has found it difficult to threaten in front of goal; in the four games since, they have only managed one goal, and in Sunday’s loss to Nottingham Forest, it took until the 80th minute to get a shot on goal.

McNeil is coping with a knee ailment that flared up again earlier this season. “We are hoping it is settling down and not going to be too long,” Dyche stated following the match versus Forest.
Seamus Coleman, who made just his second Premier League start of the season, was also not present at Goodison Park after being substituted late in the Boxing Day tie against Manchester City.

Prior to the encounter against Forest, Dyche stated that the club captain was battling a minor injury. However, following the game, he hinted that the matter might be of broader concern, saying, “Seamus is wait and see but it’s early days yet.”

Along with Tim Iroegbunam and James Garner, who both sustained injuries in October, the two are battling for a comeback. Iroegbunam has a foot problem and Garner is still sidelined with a back injury, but both players are improving at Finch Farm.
