Ed Sheeran Reacts to Ipswich Town’s Stunning Premier League Victory vs. Chelsea

Thousands of fans were cheering Ipswich Town’s unlikely 2-0 victory over Chelsea at Portman Road, including Ed Sheeran.

By winning the Premier League at home for the first time in 8,286 days, Ipswich Town ended 2024 on a high note. The devoted supporters in the stands, including Sheeran, had enough to celebrate after goals from Liam Delap and Omari Hutchinson upset the fourth-place Blues.

The four-time Grammy winner regularly attends games and owns a minority ownership in the team, but it wasn’t until Ipswich defeated Chelsea in their season-ending encounter that he was able to celebrate a Premier League home victory.

Sheeran gained notoriety earlier in the season when he interrupted Ruben Amorim’s post-game interview following Ipswich’s 1-1 draw with the Red Devils. The outcome was announced exactly two weeks after Ipswich defeated Tottenham Hotspur to record their first win of the season.

With a victory over Wolves the following month, Ipswich was only able to secure three points once since that November evening. In 19 Premier League games this season, their victory over Chelsea is only their third.

If Ipswich wants to avoid the relegation zone, they must continue to produce good results. Kieran McKenna’s team is now only one point away from safety with 15 points.

The next match for Ipswich is against Fulham on January 5. In the upcoming year, the recently promoted team will be keen to offer Sheeran and the rest of its supporters something to celebrate.
