Casemiro ‘to leave Man Utd in January’ after ‘agreeing’ stunning deal to end his time at Old Trafford
Back in the summer of 2022, Brazilian midfielder Casemiro made the decision to end his glittering Real Madrid career for a move to United, in a reported deal worth £70 million. Since then, Casemiro has made 104 appearances for the Red Devils, scoring 15 goals.
The 32-year-old was a key player in his first season, but his form plummeted last season, prompting suggestions that he could leave Old Trafford.
Since Manuel Ugarte’s arrival, Casemiro has fallen down the pecking order in the 24/25 campaign.
The Brazilian’s playing time has also been reduced since Ruben Amorim’s arrival.
As a result, with the January transfer window approaching, Casemiro has been linked with a move away.
According to Brazilian news outlet UOL, Casemiro has agreed to depart United next month, with Saudi teams reportedly keen.
Al Nassr, Al Ittihad, Al Hilal, Al Ahli, Al Ettifaq, and Al Qadsiyah are all related.
However, it has been reported that the Saudi Pro League clubs would have to figure out how to add Casemiro to their playing squads, as none of their teams have any spots available for foreign players.
In Ugarte’s absence, Casemiro started in the middle of United’s midfield against Newcastle United on Monday night.
After squandering a fantastic chance in the first half, Casemiro was substituted in the 65th minute by Alejandro Garnacho.
After United’s 2-0 loss, Amorim admitted, “It’s really hard.” It is one of the worst moments in our club’s history. You have to accept another loss in front of our fans, and Newcastle were better.
“We’ve conceded two goals, and it’s difficult to turn things around right now. It’s a difficult time for everyone, therefore we must continue to do our jobs. “There is no other way.”
United hosted Eddie Howe’s team at Old Trafford on Monday night, hoping to halt their three-match losing streak.
Amorim’s team struggled in the first half, losing 2-0 to the visitors thanks to goals from Alexander Isak and Joelinton.
Amorim substituted summer acquisition Joshua Zirkzee after 33 minutes due to the hostile atmosphere at Old Trafford, which nearly brought him to tears.
United made small improvements in the second quarter, but were unable to break past Newcastle’s strong defense.
The Newcastle defeat dropped United to 14th in the Premier League table, 23 points behind leaders Liverpool.
Former United defender Neville identified only three players who had ‘done okay’ since Amorim’s arrival on Sky Sports.
He stated: “There are only three players who can probably say they have done well since Ruben Amorim joined.
“Ammad, Diogo Dalot, and Noussair Mazraoui. They have not been fantastic, don’t get me wrong, but they have taken the correct approach.”
When reviewing the game later, Neville remarked that United is in danger of getting dragged into the relegation battle.
He stated: “He (Amorim) was adamant that he would not change, although he must be suffering deeply inside. I am worried as well. It was quite dismal. As a United fan, I found the first half-hour difficult to watch.
“There’s no denying that performances and results have deteriorated in recent weeks. Some of the players with the system are struggling with confidence, and the danger is that they may be drawn into a brawl down at the bottom.”
Neville continued, “I believe they have a lot to do, and that is to be very, very kind. I don’t think this collection of players is of the quality of the ones that Ten Hag and Ole have
“They weren’t good enough for Manchester United in those periods but they were better teams and better squads than they are currently.”
United return to Premier League play on Sunday against leaders Liverpool at Anfield.
United’s season has been difficult, with early struggles under Erik ten Hag.
The Dutchman was eventually fired in October following a 2-1 defeat to West Ham United.
Following his success at Sporting Clube de Portugal, Portuguese Ruben Amorim was given the task of turning United’s fortunes around.
On Sunday, Amorim secured his best win as Red Devils manager, defeating Premier League rivals Manchester City.
Looking ahead to the January transfer window, Amorim hopes to bring in some of his own players to help him establish his playing style as quickly as feasible.
According to The Metro, United are interested in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Matheus Cunha.
Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keeping an eye on the 25-year-old Brazilian talent.
Following the recent links, Cunha has now sent United fans into a frenzy by ‘liking’ a comment left on his most recent Instagram post.
The response stated, “Manchester United soon.”
Cunha might be an excellent signing for United, having
He stated on BBC, “His football IQ is absolutely sensational.” He’s the only one who can unlock the doors. He discovers small pockets of space and makes the correct selections at the appropriate times.
“He’s always scanning where he needs to be and making the appropriate pass. He plays an important role in Wolves’ plans. He’s the finest at everything. Off the ball, he can do more, but with the ball, he is unquestionably the star of this team.”
Cunha may miss next Wolves games due to an FA misconduct allegation stemming from a confrontation with an Ipswich Town staff member. The Brazilian was seen pushing the
Cunha recently told the Wolves website that he feels at home playing for the club.
He said, “I feel like this is my home. I feel the fans’ admiration, which is something I never expected when I first arrived here, to a small city in England that is so different from my hometown – but now I feel at home.
“The fans are amazing with me and my family, and I have nothing but positive things to say about my teammates. But going to the stadium and performing for them makes me feel at home.”
Cunha continued: “I feel like I want to do everything I can to improve the situation, because
Zirkzee, 23, was replaced in the 33rd minute of the match at Old Trafford, with the visitors leading 2-0 after Alexander Isak scored four minutes in and Joelinton doubled the away side’s lead 19 minutes later.
The Red Devils were outplayed by Eddie Howe’s team in the first half, prompting Ruben Amorim to replace Zirkzee with midfielder Kobbie Mainoo with 12 minutes remaining.
Given the rare nature of an unforced first-half substitution, supporters inside the stadium reacted with sarcastic cheers as the forward pulled on his coat and strolled down the touchline into the tunnel.
Soon later, the former Bologna player joined the United staff in the dugout.
However, an insider has described what Zirkzee did while in the tube.
“He had tears in his eyes and had to be brought back,” claimed journalist Raphael Honigstein, who was covering Sky Germany.
Former United captain and broadcaster Gary Neville expressed sympathy for Zirkzee while commentating.
“I actually feel sorry for Joshua Zirkzee,” Neville admitted on Sky Sports.
“I realize he’s making a lot of money, but there’s a human being in there who’s basically being mocked by his own supporters.
“That’s brutal. I haven’t seen that very much at Old Trafford in the 43 years I’ve been here.”
“He’s had enough and I actually don’t blame him, [it’s] a massive embarrassment,” he told me.
“I hope some of the fans down there give him a small gift. He hasn’t played well, to be sure; they’ve all been utterly terrible.”
Since joining United in the summer of 2024 for a reported £36.54 million (as per BBC Sport), the forward has struggled to establish form and has only scored three goals in 19 Premier League games, with two coming in a 4-0 win against Everton on December 1. His other strike came on his debut, when United beat Fulham 1-0 at Old Trafford on the first night of the 2024/25 season in August.
