Aston Villa hit with double blow ahead of Leicester City clash

Aston Villa have been dealt a double blow ahead of Leicester City’s trip to the West Midlands, potentially benefiting

Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side.

Villa drew 2-2 with Brighton in their final game of 2024 on Monday night, with the Seagulls’ Tariq Lamptey scoring

with 10 minutes left to win a share of the points. Villa squandered two points and lost two key players for Saturday’s game against City.

Centre-back Pau Torres limped off in the 20th minute of the match and was seen leaving Villa Park on crutches. Unai

Emery said after the game he feared it was a metatarsal injury for the Spaniard. Tyrone Mings will now come into the

side, but he’s had limited action since recovering from a year out with a cruciate ligament tear. Later in the first half,

in-form Morgan Rogers received a yellow card, his fifth of the season. That means he will be suspended for the game

with City. Hotshot striker Jhon Duran is already banned after the red card he was shown against Newcastle, and so

City will face a Villa side without two of their top three scorers this season.

City travel to Villa Park after four consecutive defeats and are now 19th in the division, following Ipswich’s victory

over Chelsea on Monday night.Ruud van Nistelrooy could be missing six players, including Mads Hermansen, Wout

Faes, Wilfred Ndidi, Kasey McAteer, Abdul Fatawu, and Ricardo Pereira.
