Sheffield Wednesday are allegedly interested in acquiring defender Ronnie Edwards on loan from Southampton.
Edwards, a highly regarded centre-back, joined the Saints in the summer after establishing himself as one of League One’s top performers.

He was a significant figure for Peterborough United, appearing in the Posh’s play-off semi-finals against Wednesday in 2023.

The 21-year-old has found opportunities limited at St Mary’s since his £3m move, despite the club’s struggles in the Premier League.

Ronnie Edwards has managed just one Premier League appearance since his move from Peterborough United to Southampton.

He has been afforded just one Premier League outing, a substitute appearance in a 5-1 defeat to Chelsea earlier this month.
According to The Star, Wednesday are interested in signing Edwards, with the defender expected to be loaned out in January.

A temporary swap appears to be the best option for the defender, who has represented England at the under-19 and under-20 levels.

Edwards, a defender who has represented England at the under-19 and under-20 levels, could be a valuable addition

to the Championship side, despite his lack of game time in the top flight. Wednesday have already signed midfielder
Shea Charles on a season-long loan deal with Southampton this season, and Charles has thrived under Rohl’s
tutelage, making him a potential bargaining chip.
