West Brom’s management hunt is well underway, and Steven Schumacher’s chances of landing the post have improved.

According to DOOD on X [29 December], Albion are in negotiations with former Stoke City manager Schumacher and Swansea City manager Luke Williams about succeeding Carlos Corberan. Schumacher, 40, was fired by Stoke City in September after previously serving as manager of Plymouth Argyle in the Championship from 2021-2023. According to Oddschecker, his odds with BetVictor have substantially cut to 4/1, making him the second-favourite for the position, trailing Liverpool backroom coach John Heitinga (2/1). Chris Brunt took command of what could be his final game as interim manager, a 1-1 draw at Sheffield United.

There could be something simmering at The Hawthorns between the West Brom board and Schumacher, who has odds of 33/1 with SkyBet [Oddschecker] on Saturday. Following Corberan’s return to his country with Valencia, Albion have demonstrated a willingness to pursue his successor.
