Norwich City v QPR: Marti Cifuentes post-match reaction.
QPR boss Marti Cifuentes admitted to “mixed feelings” after watching his side concede a late equaliser at Carrow Road.
Ante Crnac’s own goal in first-half injury time appeared to cap off a miserable afternoon for Norwich City, who squandered multiple chances to draw level. However, the Canaries were grateful for Marcelino Nunez’s spectacular late goal from the edge of the area. Cifuentes agreed that City were well worth their point.
“It’s a mixed feeling – it’s not an unfair result – Norwich pushed especially later in the game but it’s frustrating conceding that late,” added the captain. “We turned off a little bit near the conclusion of the game, which was really costly.
“They were trying to pin our centre halves and put the pressure on and credit to them, it was a good goal for them.” Following a 3-0 victory over Johannes Hoff Thorup’s team at Loftus Road earlier this month, Cifuentes’ side appeared to be on their way to completing the double. A return of four points from six was pleasing for the Spaniard, who believes Norwich are on the right track under their Danish manager. “I think they have a really good manager and they show a lot of good things,” according to him. “It’s a club that attempts to play possession with a lot of talented guys.
“Borja (Sainz) is one of the top players in the league, and Nunez is demonstrating his abilities. When they make substitutions, it’s quite difficult. They had the option of putting (Ashley) Barnes up front and changing their attack, so they are a very good team.”
