Norwich City 1-1 QPR: Thorup Championship reaction and Sainz

Johannes Hoff Thorup discusses Norwich City’s 1-1 Championship draw against QPR at Carrow Road, as well as the FA’s investigation into an alleged spitting incident involving Borja Sainz during the recent Sunderland defeat.

Sainz played the entire 90 minutes on Sunday, but Thorup stated that the FA contacted the club but has yet to charge the winger following a heated defeat on Wearside.

The Dane was unable to confirm whether the incident involved spitting, which, if charged by the FA, could result in a six-game penalty.

“What can you tell us, Johannes?””Not much more than what you’re asking for and saying here,” he replied. “We are now investigating a possible event in the game and are awaiting evidence to determine its nature. Of course, once we understand that, we can figure out how to handle the situation.

“There is no charge at the present, which is, of course, why he is playing, and I expect him to be ready for the team again on Wednesday (away to Luton), but we never know when we will have to wait and see if there will be a charge.

“We can probably expect something within the next few days.”(Some speculate that it could be related to spitting. Could you confirm this? No, I’m not sure at the moment.I’ll go ask Borja about the matter. The attention was on the game and getting a result here. This only came to my attention in the last day or two. I wasn’t going to take action because it was game day and we were concerned.

“It’s difficult to predict whether there will be a charge, but if there is, they’ll deal with it before the Luton game.” I find it difficult to believe that this will be the case. But we’ll have to wait and see what it is.There are a lot of ifs right now, and we need to find out, but we’ll probably know more tomorrow.

On the pitch, Marcelino Nunez scored in the 89th minute to cancel off Ante Crnac’s first-half own goal.
