Frank Lampard anticipates ‘assistance’ for his Coventry City squad during the January transfer window.
The Sky Blues will commence mid-term trading on New Year’s Day, when they travel to Cardiff City for the third of four holiday fixtures in ten days. This is an opportunity to recruit new players and reinforce their current squad.
When asked by CoventryLive if fans may expect any early business in terms of player signings, Lampard answered, “We’ll see, we’ll see…”
When asked if any current City players are likely to go, the manager responded, “I’m the wrong man to ask that question.”
When asked if he has been instructed that players must leave in order to bring new ones in, in terms of balancing the budget and freeing up pay, he answered, “No, no,” before adding, “Listen, I believe we will look at it collectively and collaboratively.
“Obviously, I have a strong opinion about it, so I don’t want to give you a bad answer, but if we can help the team and the squad, we’ll try.
“In the short time I’ve been here, I’ve developed some nice relationships, and we’ll try to make it work. So we’ll see where we can improve the squad and make it stronger because we know it’s a great league that requires a squad and the ability to compete.
“You want to develop players at the same time and, first and foremost, you want to win games so if we can help then we’ll try and help them.”
