Celtic hero Barry Robson returns to management as he takes over at SPFL club 11 months after Aberdeen axe.
The manager has spoken for the first team after his appointment.
BARRY ROBSON has returned to management in a shock appointment – 11 months after being shown the door at Pittodrie.
The former Celtic, Dundee United, and Scotland midfielder was let go by Aberdeen in January and has since been looking for his next managerial opportunity.
He has now returned to the SPFL, this time with Raith Rovers. He will take over at Stark’s Park after Neill Collins left for Sacramento Republic. Robson will be in the dugout for Saturday’s match against Ayr United at Somerset Park, where he will meet former teammate Scott Brown. The 46-year-old is Rovers’ third manager this season, following Ian Murray’s dismissal in August and Collins’ appointment as his successor. For Saturday’s 2-1 victory over Livingston, John Potter and Colin Cameron took interim leadership. The club issued a statement that read:”Barry is our new manager, joining on a two and a half year deal. His experience as a player and coach, as well as his passion and vision for success, set him apart from a strong list of candidates.”Welcome to our club, Barry.”
