Ondanks 20 doelpuntenmakers heeft de manager van Brugge een topspits opgenomen in de transferperiode van januari ter waarde van £ 65 miljoen
Club Brugge manager Nicky Hayen has revealed that Super Eagles midfielder Raphael Onyedika was ruled out of Sunday’s clash against Union Saint-Gilloise due to a last-minute injury.
Onyedika, a key figure in Brugge’s midfield, had been a regular this season, featuring in 16 of the club’s 18 league games, with one absence due to suspension.
However, during Saturday’s training session ahead of the high-stakes encounter, the Nigerian international suffered an injury that disrupted the club’s plans.
The midfielder sustained pain in his adductors during the warm-up, forcing him out of training. Despite efforts to assess his fitness on Sunday, the verdict was clear.
We tested him on Sunday, but it quickly became clear that he was not ready for the match against Union,” Hayen disclosed during a post-match interview with the club’s website.
Without Onyedika in the lineup, Club Brugge fought hard but could only manage a 2-2 draw in the clash between the Belgian giants.
Looking ahead, Coach Hayen will be hoping for Onyedika’s swift recovery as Club Brugge prepares for their final match of the year on Thursday, December 26.
