“Never been 100% sold” – Norwich City: Angus Gunn dilemma addressed amid Egil Selvik link
Alan Nixon’s Patreon account suggests that the 27-year-old may join the Canaries as his contract with Norwegian side FK Haugesund expires soon after the season ended earlier this month.
The contract dispute between Norwich and Angus Gunn has led to speculation that he may leave Carrow Road as early as January. Johannes Hoff Thorup has expressed interest in the Norwegian shot-stopper.
Selvik’s contract with Haugesund expires at the end of 2024, thus a move to England appears to be only a matter of time. He just announced his departure from Haugesund, citing interest from an unidentified Championship club, thought to be Norwich.
FLW’s Norwich City fan commentator Zeke Downes was asked about the links to Selvik, the form of George Long in Gunn’s absence, and his concerns over losing the latter without a new contract yet this season.
He stated, “It’s not surprising that we’re being linked with a keeper.”

“At least when Tim Krul was here, there was some competition.
“So I’m not surprised by the speculation about Selvik, and I believe we’ll be bringing in another goalie.

Long failed to impress while covering Gunn’s injury earlier in the season, and youngster Archie Mair has yet to play at a higher level than League Two, thus Selvik may be required in January.
Norwich need to strengthen their defense by bringing in a new goalkeeper with more control over their backline, as Gunn’s contract expires at the end of the season, despite Hoff Thorup stating in October that discussions are “always ongoing” with him.
Norwich’s inconsistent performance this season is compounded by frequent goalkeeper changes. Selvik is a year younger than Gunn, and with the potential of bringing him in for free, the team will not incur significant financial costs.
