Luke Williams awaits news on Gonçalo Franco injury

Luke Williams and Swansea City will wait to see the extent of Gonçalo Franco’s facial injury after the midfielder was pulled off in the second half of their dramatic 2-1 victory against Luton Town.

At Swansea.com Stadium, the Portuguese equalized for the Swans in the 38th minute, canceling out Carlton Morris’ opening goal.

However, eight minutes into the second half, he was tackled by Mark McGuinness as he attempted to push the Luton defender and underwent treatment with blood streaming from his lips.

He attempted to continue but was forced to leave in tears a few minutes later, with head coach Williams revealing Franco had been taken to the hospital after a section of teeth in his lower jaw were dislodged in the incident.

“When you are that committed and that aggressive into the challenge the unfortunately these collisions can happen,” stated the club’s owner.

“His bottom row of teeth are now in a different position than they were; it’s really difficult and we’re quite concerned about him, but he’s in good hands, and we’ll provide an update once we know more.

“He is such a tough guy, he is so loyal to the team, and he has placed his body at risk.
