West Brom next manager latest and how Bilkul plan to replace Carlos Corberan

West Brom are now setting about replacing the outgoing Carlos Corberan, who has left the club to join Valencia.

West Bromwich Albion are well into the process of identifying and recruiting Carlos Corberan’s successor. The Spaniard departed the club on Christmas Eve to take over as manager of La Liga strugglers Valencia, which means he and his family will return home. He departs Albion on the verge of the Championship play-offs, having taken over in the relegation zone a little more than two years ago.

In the meanwhile, Chris Brunt, Boaz Myhill, and Damia Abella have been appointed as an interim management team. The trio oversaw the narrow Boxing Day defeat at Derby County on Thursday evening and will prepare the squad for this glut of festive fixtures – Albion travel to pacesetters Sheffield United on Sunday, Preston North End on New Year’s Day, and Swansea City the following Saturday.

The noises coming out of The Hawthorns suggest that Albion’s intentions to find a suitable successor to Corberan will not be rushed simply to ensure a new manager is in place as soon as possible; the hierarchy is eager to make the right decision and, in order to do so, is willing to rely on Brunt, Myhill, and Abella to oversee first-team responsibilities for the foreseeable future. If it takes till the FA Cup match at Bournemouth next month, so be it.
