The latest Birmingham City injury news as the club prepares to play Blackpool at St Andrew’s on Sunday.
Chris Davies expects to call on in-form Keshi Anderson when Birmingham City face Blackpool on Sunday, after the winger was substituted at half-time on Boxing Day.
Anderson, who has five goals and seven assists for Blues this season, did not return for the second half against Burton Albion and is now a doubt for the game against his previous side Blackpool. “It was just a precaution,” Davies explained of Anderson’s withdrawal. “He was fatigued in a few little areas so we will see how he is, but it was nothing major.”
Davies recently expressed doubts about whether Alfons Sampsted and Scott Wright will be available before the New Year. Sampsted has missed the Blues’ last eight games due to an ankle ailment, and Wright has not played since mid-October.
Blues manager Davies stated: “They are building up a little bit of training, but whether they get back into games before the New Year, I’m not sure, but they are all close and moving in the right direction.” They’re not sitting in the treatment room and not going outside.”
Keshi Anderson suffered an unspecified injury.
Anderson was substituted midway through the match over Burton Albion due to weariness, according to Davies. It is unclear whether he will be able to play against his previous team, Blackpool.
Wright was injured in training on the eve of the Blues’ trip to Lincoln and has since missed more than two months of action as a result. The Scottish winger’s contribution off the bench has been overlooked.
Alfons Sampsted injured his ankle.
Sampsted left Iceland’s defeat to Wales with 15 minutes remaining in the November international window and has since missed Blues games against Shrewsbury, Exeter, Blackpool, Barnsley, Exeter, Bristol Rovers, Crawley, and Burton.
