“Never been 100% sold” – Norwich City: Angus Gunn dilemma addressed amid Egil Selvik link.
Norwich City are apparently looking to bring Norwegian goalkeeper Egil Selvik to Carrow Road during the January transfer window.
Alan Nixon’s Patreon account suggests that the 27-year-old may join the Canaries as his contract with Norwegian side FK Haugesund expires soon after the season ended earlier this month.
The contract dispute between Norwich and Angus Gunn has led to speculation that he may leave Carrow Road as early as January. Johannes Hoff Thorup has expressed interest in the Norwegian shot-stopper.
Selvik’s contract with Haugesund expires at the end of 2024, thus a move to England appears to be only a matter of time. He just announced his departure from Haugesund, citing interest from an unidentified Championship club, thought to be Norwich.
Angus Gunn’s conclusion comes amid Norwich City’s interest in Egil Selvik.
FLW’s Norwich City fan commentator Zeke Downes was asked about the links to Selvik, the form of George Long in Gunn’s absence, and his concerns over losing the latter without a new contract yet this season.
He stated, “It’s not surprising that we’re being linked with a keeper.”
“It looks like Gunn will not be awarded a new contract.
“Even if he was, I’ve never been really sold on him either.
“He was good last season, but he’s really dropped off this season.
“But, obviously, George Long is very awful, so there isn’t nobody there to really challenge Angus Gunn.
“At least when Tim Krul was here, there was some competition.
“So I’m not surprised by the speculation about Selvik, and I believe we’ll be bringing in another goalie.
“Be that now, or at the end of the season.”
