“Hopefully, We’ll Get Him Back in the Playoffs” – Green Bay Packers’ Matt LaFleur Expects Rookie Safety to be Out For the Rest of the 2024 Regular Season

The Green Bay Packers face the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC North on Sunday afternoon, with a troubling injury list. Evan Williams, a rookie safety, is now suffering with a quadriceps ailment.

The 23-year-old missed Week 9 against the Detroit Lions with a hamstring ailment. Evan Williams last faced the Seattle Seahawks in Week 15. However, he was sidelined against the New Orleans Saints in Week 16 after injuring his leg, most likely during practice.

During a recent press conference, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur stated that he does not expect Williams to suit up again for the remainder of the regular season, but hopes to see him return healthy in the playoffs.

“There is concern. I believe he will be out for an extended amount of time. Nothing long-term; simply one of those deals. “It’s unfortunate,” LaFleur remarked of Williams. “I believe it happened during the first play of practice (on Saturday). I know he is disappointed because this is the second time it has occurred to him. “Hopefully, we’ll have him back in time for the playoffs,” he said.
