West Brom next manager twist as club receives Mark Robins response

Following Carlos Corberan’s departure, West Brom supporters are debating the top candidates for the club’s new manager.

Corberan has left The Hawthorns to become the new head coach of La Liga club Valencia, with a contract until June 2027. The Baggies confirmed the agreement on Christmas Eve, after agreeing on compensation of around 3 million euros (£2.49 million). Valencia publicly introduced their new guy in the early hours of Christmas Day.

Valencia’s official website stated that “Carlos Corberan has been appointed as coach of Valencia CF, signing a contract until 2027.”

“A buy-out option in his contract with West Bromwich Albion was taken up to allow him to leave.”

Corberan wrote on the social media platform X, “I cannot begin to express how I feel about West Bromwich Albion, its fans, and everyone associated with the club.”

“In my more than two years here, I’ve only felt love from this community, and the decision to leave has been the most difficult of my life.

“There will ALWAYS be a place in my heart for this special club and I hope one day I can return to thank you all for your incredible support.”

The club confirmed that Chris Brunt, Damia Abella, and Boaz Myhill will manage the first team until further notice. Sporting director Andrew Nestor is leading Albion’s search for a new head coach, and in a post on X, he stated: “The process of identifying and appointing a successor is already underway, and we have every faith in the team, led by Chris Brunt and Damià Abella, to continue our work on the pitch during this interim period.”
