Tragic Loss: Entire Family Killed After Car Crashes Into Wall During Police Pursuit

An 18-year-old man died after his car collided with a wall during a police pursuit in Sheffield’s city centre. According to South Yorkshire Police, the individual, who was driving a black Ford Fiesta, responded to officers’ presence on Hyde Park Walk and “attempted to flee the scene” at around 13:00 GMT on Monday.

After a short police pursuit, the car, which was suspected to be stolen, collided with a wall on East Bank Road, and the man was transported to hospital, where he died of his injuries, according to a force spokesperson.

Following the crash, the force made a necessary referral to the Independent Office for Police Conduct.

East Bank Road was closed while cops conducted investigations, but has since reopened.

Officers asked anyone with information about the event, as well as dashcam or CCTV footage from the scene around the time of the crash, to contact them.

The representative stated that they were particularly interested in speaking with anyone who was on City Road, Park Grange Road, Spring Lane, or Northern Avenue during the pursuit.
