Cole Palmer’s statement about Ipswich has a worrying message after declining performances- view

After Chelsea’s dismal loss to Fulham last night, Cole Palmer was the player that spoke to the team’s official website today.

He will have been devastated to watch his team lose in the closing seconds after scoring the first goal. However, as Palmer noted, the opportunity to make amends is fleeting during this time of year, as is the next game:

“It’s a good opportunity to learn, rest, recover, and play in three days. We just keep going now. We knew we weren’t going to win every single game we play. It’s the manager’s first season with us and we’re learning,” the attacker said.

“Everyone has said from the start we’re not a title contender, we’re just playing, winning, getting better as a team, growing, and that’s what we’re doing.”

After getting fouled, Cole Palmer complains.
The big picture is correct, and even two consecutive poor outcomes shouldn’t dampen the spirits of an otherwise excellent season. It’s a wonderful, upbeat message.

However, after hearing Palmer mention “playing in three days,” we have serious concerns regarding the starting lineup for that Monday’s game against Ipswich.

Palmer is undoubtedly the first in queue for a break, and Maresca won’t play for the same side again. By his own high standards, he has been silent during our last two games. We can’t expect him to play another game in just seventy-two hours, can we?

He sorely needs a vacation, as do artists like Pedro Neto and Nicolas Jackson. As they grow more exhausted, these first team players not only perform worse but also run a higher danger of getting hurt.

Imagine the catastrophe that would result if Palmer injured himself.
