Gabby Agbonlahor hits back at ‘Harsh’ Rangers comment made live on talkSPORT.
Gabby Agbonlahor has responded to Jason Cundy’s “harsh” comments against Rangers and Celtic on talkSPORT.
On the radio station’s Christmas Dinner special [25 December], as transcribed by the Daily Record [26 December], presenter Shebahn Aherne discussed the possibility of the Glasgow duo entering the Premier League one day.
Cundy answered by claiming it would be the same as placing a team like Barnsley in the division.
Former Aston Villa striker Agbonlahor, however, disagreed with the remark, stating, “That’s harsh, Cundy.”
The Rangers vs. Celtic Premier League discussion is monotonous.
This is a frequently asked question, with the same responses. The final line is that this is only a hypothetical scenario.
As they shown against Tottenham earlier this month, the Gers can more than hold their own against superior English opponents.
Whether they can compete in the upper echelons of the division is another question, but based on the first four months of this season, it appears improbable.
However, the Bears have finally found some stability in recent weeks, despite the disputed cup final loss, and a corner has been turned.
Philippe Clement will now be looking to get three more points against St Mirren on Thursday (26 December) to keep the Gers’ fragile title aspirations alive for a while longer.
And as for Cundy’s claim that Barnsley are on par with Rangers, it’s safe to say he’s earned his reputation as a wind-up merchant.
