Patriots Fans Probably Will Hate This NFL Mock Draft After Pick Improves

Travis Hunter is a popular pick for the Patriots, considering their dearth of wide receiving talent and the need for a dynamic playmaker. Kyle Crabbs of the 33rd Team disagreed with the majority and ranked Penn State linebacker Abdul Carter second to New England.
“The Patriots sound fully committed to continuing their planned future with head coach Jerod Mayo despite the trying ups and downs of life after Bill Belichick.,” Crabbs tweeted Monday. “If they’re going to stay on track, the Patriots would be wise to make sure they have the horses in front of them to live up to their coach’s reputation. The formula for doing so may be a running partner for Christian Gonzalez at cornerback or a standout pass rusher. If they go the pass rush route, Abdul Carter has been an absolute terror this season for the Penn State Nittany Lions, who appear to be on track for a deep run in the College Football Playoff following a smothering defensive performance against SMU.
“Of course, the Patriots might cash out on this choice for a QB-hungry team, which could result in a war chest of picks in a limited quarterback class. But, assuming they stay put, New England entered Week 16 with two players with more than 2.5 sacks on the season after trading away Matthew Judon at the start of the year. Finding a centerpiece of the future pass rush, especially one with Carter’s alignment versatility, would change the pass rush dynamics for Mayo and the Patriots.”
