“He’s our target” City target Slavia Prague winger – reports

Norwich City are reportedly interested in signing young Slavia Prague winger Matej Jurasek.

According to well-connected Czech journalist Ludek Madl, the Canaries are looking recruit a right winger next month and have been closely monitoring Jurasek.

According to the report, representatives from City were present to witness Jurasek play in a Europa League match against Anderlecht earlier this month. Slavia fell 2-1, with the winger coming on as a substitute in the 63rd minute.

Jurasek, 21, is believed to be available in the forthcoming transfer window after becoming dissatisfied with his lack of minutes at Slavia Prague, with rumors in the nation indicating that a cost of €6-8 million would be sufficient to lure him away from the current leaders of the First League.

The Czech international joined Slavia from Carvina as a youth and made his senior debut in November 2020.

Despite being highly valued by Slavia, Jurasek has struggled to establish a consistent starting role at the club, starting only 31 times in 91 games across all competitions since being promoted.

Jurasek has only started seven games in domestic and European tournaments this season, causing his representative, Kamil Rehak, to accept that a move may be required to continue his individual growth.

“We’ll definitely address it,” he told iSport. “Matej is in his third year at Slavia and his condition remains similar.

“The workload is low. We will explore for alternatives. But not in the Czech Republic; Slavia is the best here.”

Stuttgart, Union Berlin, and Atlanta had previously expressed interest, although this has apparently cooled due to his lack of involvement. Belgian club Club Brugge has also been linked with an interest.

Norwich are anticipated to be busy during the forthcoming winter transfer window, with a right winger and defensive midfielder at the top of their priority list.

Christian Fassnacht, who is entering the final six months of his agreement, might secure a transfer away from Norfolk after being linked with a return to Young Boys, while Liverpool is contemplating up a recall for Kaid Gordon despite a lack of appearances since joining City on deadline day.

Ben Knapper is considering several options to bolster the squad, but any signings must line with the club’s long-term vision.

City were linked with soon-to-be out-of-contract Norwegian international Egil Selvik, but it is thought City would prefer a younger and homegrown option to push first-choice Angus Gunn in the second half of the season if they decide to sign a goalkeeper.

There have been no negotiations with the Scotland international, who is free to speak with overseas teams in the new year. It is thought that he has a number of interested parties keeping an eye on his situation at Carrow Road.

Mark Kosznovszky, a Hungarian midfielder, is not considered a target at this time, despite reports linking him with City last week.
