Frantic Edinburgh Boxing Day search for missing man last seen during early hours

Police say Gary may have become disorientated and concerns are growing for his welfare. Officers say he is most likely out walking and could be heading to Drylaw

Police in Edinburgh have launched a frenzied Boxing Day hunt for a missing elderly who disappeared in the early hours.

Gary Hardie, 73, disappeared around 2.30 a.m. on December 26 and was last seen on Lanark Road West. Officers believe he is out walking and may be headed to Drylaw.
Gary, from Currie, is described as white, roughly 5ft 8ins tall, medium built, with short grey hair and bald on top. He was last seen wearing a maroon pullover, blue jeans, and blue trainers.
Inspector George Nisbet stated, “Concerns are rising about Gary’s welfare, and it is critical that we ensure his safety and well-being.

“He may have been walking around and headed towards Telford Drive and Mountcastle Loan, where he has contacts.

“We’re urging people to keep an eye out for Gary and check gardens, sheds, and outbuildings in case he’s sought refuge or become disoriented.

“If you have seen Gary or know where he might be then please get in touch with us immediately.”

Anyone with information is requested to contact Police Scotland on 101, mentioning reference number 0389 of Thursday, December 26.
