Elderly couple killed after being hit by car in Norfolk

An elderly couple were killed after being hit by a car while leaving a Christmas carols service in Norfolk.

The pair, known locally as Campbell and Sheila Welsh, were hit by a BMW Mini One on the A148 in High Kelling, Norfolk, as they returned to their parked car from a carol service at All Saints Church. The crash occurred around 4.20pm on Sunday, December 21.

Emergency services were dispatched, including an air ambulance, but the couple was declared dead on the site. The Norfolk Constabulary said that a man in his fifties was apprehended.
According to a statement from the police, the driver of the Mini, a guy in his 50s, has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by negligent driving. He was transported to the Wymondham Police Investigation Centre for questioning, where he remains.

“The road was closed while emergency services attended the scene, including an ambulance.
