Southampton now racing to sign “amazing” in-demand £100m ace for Ivan Juric
It has been reported that Southampton has entered the competition to sign a striker valued at up to £100 million for new boss Ivan Juric as the January transfer window draws near.
Southampton transfer news
The last straw in Russell Martin’s Southampton reign was a 5-0 loss at Tottenham Hotspur, in which the Saints let
up four goals in the first half.Southampton is in a dangerous situation, sitting at the bottom of the Premier League
and nine points from safety. They can only hope that their incoming manager, Juric, can make the biggest of comebacks.
Having persuaded the manager to leave AS Roma just three months after he joined to replace Daniele De Rossi,
Southampton has reached a verbal agreement with Juric, who is now working on exit terms to leave the Italian club,
according to Fabricio Romano. It appears that they have decided not to pursue the signing of Sheffield Wednesday
manager Danny Rohl, and they will now be in the running to sign Evan Ferguson from Brighton & Hove Albion in
2025. The young striker has struggled to establish him
“Amazing” Ferguson would be a major coup
It would be one of the most impressive moves of the winter transfer window if Southampton could win a fierce
competition to sign Ferguson until the end of the season, even if he is only on loan. Juric’s prospective new team is at
the bottom of the table, and no team has scored fewer goals than the 11 they have scored in 16 games. Southampton
might need to put together a strong pitch in order to attract a player of Ferguson’s calibre.
Despite his recent setbacks, the Irishman has received a lot of acclaim since making his Brighton debut. Following a
2-0 victory over Bournemouth in 2023, former teammate Alexis Mac Allister told reporters via BBC Sport: “Evan is
an amazing player.” Even though it wasn’t his best evening, he demonstrated his abilities. We know how important
he is, therefore we are very thrilled for him.”
Of course, despite their current difficulties, Southampton can give Ferguson the opportunity to start every week in
the Premier League, which might give the Brighton striker a lot to think about before 2025.
