Harry Maguire spent two years with Leicester City before signing a lucrative contract with Manchester United.

Leicester City signed Harry Maguire from Hull City in July 2017 for about £11 million.

The centre-back was part of a formidable Tigers defense that featured Liverpool’s Andy Robertson.

Maguire appeared in 76 games across all competitions at King Power Stadium, scoring five goals and assisting three.

He subsequently signed for Manchester United for a whopping £80 million in 2019, although it’s fair to say his time there hasn’t been very successful.

The Red Devils have struggled as a club for many years, and Maguire’s form has plummeted, with supporters frequently using him as a scapegoat for the team’s demise.

Maguire’s contract with Manchester United expires in 2025, and Leicester are reportedly interested in signing him.

Maguire has been in and out of Manchester United’s starting lineup throughout 2024/25.

After Erik ten Hag’s dismissal, Ruud van Nistelrooy took over as temporary manager of the Red Devils, however he was absent due to injury concerns.

Maguire, however, spent many months working for the Dutchman as one of Ten Hag’s aides.

The center-back praised the current Leicester manager earlier this year, according to FourFourTwo.

He stated, “For the squad, last season was a great disappointment, but we concluded on a high. There has been a lot of great energy since then. The club’s leadership and personnel around the manager have undergone significant changes.

“I believe this will benefit us. Ruud is a terrific coach, and his enthusiasm for football is palpable. He enjoys analysing the game. I’m highly pleased by his ideas.”

Leicester City are looking for alternative center backs to Harry Maguire.

While fans may want to see their former player return, it appears that the club is looking into other center-back options as the January transfer window approaches.

Leicester have been linked with Valentin Gomez, who, like Maguire, is a left-footed defender, which they currently lack.

Another option considered by the Midlands side would also bring Premier League experience.

Atalanta BC is considering offers for Leicester City target Ben Godfrey, who is also attracting interest from Italy.

The Foxes are competing with Manchester City for a’monster’ defender, similar to their current player Caleb Okoli.
