Bolton Wanderers: Ian Evatt lays down transfer gauntlet to Wycombe Wanderers over Aaron Morley

Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt has confirmed that Aaron Morley will be recalled from his loan spell at Wycombe Wanderers in January, and won’t head back to Adams Park unless they make an acceptable permanent offer.

The midfielder has been a key component of Wycombe’s success this season, being a calm and assured passer of the ball that has greatly aided their forward play.

However, Evatt revealed today what all Chairboys fans had feared. The Wanderers manager talked with the Bolton News today before of their Boxing Day match against Barnsley, outlining his plans for the midfielder’s future in Lancashire.

Evatt confirms Bolton Wanderers will recall Aaron Morley in January

Evatt stated on Monday that Wycombe’s current temporary star will return to the Toughsheet Community Stadium in January, unless the Chairboys give up the cash.

He stated: “If they [Wycombe] want to keep him, they must make us a very large offer.

“From our standpoint, he simply will not stay there on loan. We will recall him, and he will remain a member of our team and squad unless they make us an offer we believe fulfills his price.

“I have told them our valuation, and now it is down to them to either meet it or not.”

It is currently unknown how much the Whites value Morley, but it is reasonable to expect that his value has improved greatly as a result of his success at Adams Park, where he is part of a club that is blazing on all cylinders in the automatic promotion spots.

Wycombe must now weigh up Aaron Morley decision

Matt Bloomfield faces a daunting task in maintaining Wycombe’s electrifying form in the second half of the season.

Players like Richard Kone and Tyreeq Bakinson have previously been linked with transfers away, and today’s Morley news will be devastating.

However, his recall does not mark the end of Morley and Wycombe’s success story. Evatt indicated that he has set a valuation for the 24-year-old, and the Chairboys must now decide whether or not to match it.

Buckinghamshire’s fortunes have shifted, since spending fees on players was rarely an option.

Since Mikheil Lomtadze took charge, the promotion-seekers have the financial resources to pursue more expensive targets. The club must now consider if meeting the valuation is a worthwhile investment.

Following Evatt’s surprise decision to let the Bury native leave in the summer, it’s uncertain whether Morley wants to play for Bolton when he returns. The 24-year-old may want to return to Adams Park, where he can continue to thrive.

However, until we witness what happens firsthand, both sets of fans will speculate about Morley’s future.
