The Foxes have a challenging Christmas schedule and may struggle to maintain their Premier League status unless they make rapid changes.

Van Nistelrooy justified starting Danny Ward, one of two Leicester players who were booed by the crowd.

Nobody basked in glory, and the Leicester manager made two half-time substitutions to attempt to halt the rot.
Ruud van Nistelrooy discusses Jannik Vestergaard’s replacement.

Jannik Vestergaard, one of two players pulled during the break, was replaced by Wout Faes.

Vestergaard has started every game under Van Nistelrooy, but has been substituted at least three times.

At halftime, the Denmark international and Oliver Skipp were replaced by Faes and Harry Winks. However, Van Nistelrooy said that the defender was sick and that the move was not tactical.

“He didn’t feel well at half-time,” the 48-year-old stated. “It’s no major thing for the coming days.”

Leicester City want a central defender in the January transfer window.

This season, the Foxes have struggled tremendously on defence.

Robert Huth brought up the ‘nuts’ Leicester figure, which highlighted that they had surrendered 14 goals in the previous five games, with seven of those coming in the prior two games.

Leicester would be significantly worse off without Mads Hermansen, who now outperforms every Premier League goalkeeper.

The Athletic reports that the team plans to sign a central defender in January.

Leicester may need to consider cheap defensive alternatives to supplement their team, despite previous investment in that area.
