Commanders make historic franchise announcement after Eagles win

The Washington Commanders secured yet another thrilling victory on Sunday afternoon, defeating the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles 33-36 at Northwest Stadium. The Commanders overcame five turnovers to storm back in the fourth quarter.

Jayden Daniels, a rookie quarterback, threw five touchdown passes, including a nine-yarder to Jamison Crowder in the final seconds of the game. This touchdown pass gave the Commanders the lead and secured their tenth victory of the 2024 season.

Daniels finished the game with 257 throwing yards, five touchdowns, and two interceptions on 24 of 39 attempts. Jalen Hurts, the Eagles’ quarterback, left the game with a concussion in the first quarter and was replaced by primary backup Kenny Pickett.

With this victory, the Commanders improve to 10-5 on the 2024 season and cut the Eagles’ lead in the NFC East. Washington is now two games behind in the division with two weeks left in the regular season. This 10-5 record is the franchise’s finest start since 1991.

“10-5 START FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE 1991,” the Commanders wrote on X following Sunday’s dramatic finale.

Washington finished the 1991 regular season with a 14-2 record, losing to the Eagles in Week 17. The franchise then ran the table in the postseason, beating the Falcons, Lions and Bills en route to a Super Bowl XXVI victory.

The Commanders hope to capitalise on this momentum and end the regular season strong. After next weekend’s Week 17 matchup against the Falcons, Washington will conclude its 2024 campaign with a Week 18 matchup against the division-rival Dallas Cowboys.
