Aston Villa confirm Louie Barry transfer decision ahead of January

Aston Villa’s Louie Barry is expected to head back out on loan in January after he returns from his spell at Stockport County

Aston Villa have confirmed that they will recall Louie Barry from his loan spell with Stockport County in January.

The attacker has been in fantastic form in League One this season, scoring 14 goals in 21 games. He also scored both goals in Stockport’s 2-1 victory over Peterborough last time out.
The 21-year-old has scored 23 goals in 41 league games under Dave Challinor after assisting the Hatters to promotion from League Two last season.
Several Championship clubs, notably Sunderland, Leeds United, Sheffield Wednesday, and Middlesbrough, have been monitoring the situation.

Boro signed Cameron Archer and Aaron Ramsey on loan from Villa in January 2023. They then signed Fin Azaz on a permanent basis at the start of this year, after Villa recalled him from a loan spell with Plymouth Argyle.

A few weeks after Azaz moved to Boro, Morgan Rogers left the Riverside for Villa in a transaction costing £8 million, which increased to £15 million with add-ons.

Barry signed a new contract with Villa before moving back to Stockport in August. He returned to his hometown club from Barcelona in January 2020, followed by loan spells at Ipswich Town, Swindon Town, MK Dons, and Salford City.
