‘We are pretty clear on what is going to happen’ – Ian Evatt on Aaron Morley’s future

Bolton Wanderers manager Ian Evatt has admitted he is ‘pretty clear on what is going to happen’ with on loan Wycombe Wanderers midfielder, Aaron Morley.

The 24-year-old joined the Chairboys on a season-long loan from the Trotters in August and has contributed significantly to the club’s success this season.

Since moving down south, he has appeared in 20 matches across all competitions, starting 16 of them, 15 of which have been in the league.

Wycombe are currently leading League One and scoring the most goals in the division.
However, reports have surfaced that Morley may be recalled by Bolton when the January Transfer Window starts next month.

When questioned about his plans for the center midfielder, who will miss the two sides’ match on December 20, Evatt said: “I will certainly not discuss them, but we know what we want to do and our choices.

“We have a good idea of what will happen right now, but things can change.

“We are always holding recruitment discussions, as well as talks with agents and teams, to discuss how we might strengthen the squad.

“Will there be a major change?

“No, but anything we do in this window must move the needle.

“We are certain that it will improve the team.

“It is not about adding to the roster; it is about improving the starting XI.

“That is where our focus is, to make sure the ones we bring in – one, two, three maybe – it makes the 11 stronger than what it is at the moment.”

Wycombe enters the game on top of the League One standings with 43 points, a total they had to wait until March to reach last season.

They have blasted teams away with the club scoring in every league game this season, and Evatt understands it will be a difficult challenge.

He continued, “They have had a fantastic run and are playing with confidence. They have an effective playing style.

“Obviously, Aaron (Morley) is unable to participate, but he has performed admirably for them thus far this season in the job assigned to him.

“I’m wondering if he’ll give them a decent steer on us; I haven’t asked him because that’s not the proper thing to do!

“It’s as difficult as it can be right now, and the lack of manpower doesn’t help.

“But it is an opportunity and we have to go there and do the best we can.”

The match will begin at 7.45 p.m. on December 20 at Adams Park.
