Newcastle United smashed transfer record to sign ‘world class’ talent – Ipswich boss can’t disagree.

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe believes Alexander Isak has ‘has it all’.

Isak scored his first hat-trick for Newcastle in a 4-0 victory over Ipswich Town on Saturday. With two games remaining in 2024, the 25-year-old striker already has 11 goals this season and 26 for the calendar year.

He had Magpies boss Howe waxing poetic once more after the encounter.

“Absolutely, he is a world-class talent,” Howe stated. “The way he took his goals, he has the coolness in front of the net and poise that very few players possess.

“Then you consider his other attributes, such as his speed and technical ability. “For me, he has it all.”

Isak joined Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022 for a club record £63 million as a’ready-made’ striker. Since his time on Tyneside, the striker has grown into one of the most prolific attackers in world football.

Jacob Murphy scored the game’s other goal, giving Newcastle three wins in a row and 11 goals in the past week.

“I think it has been a great response from everybody,” she said. “That Brentford game was a difficult day for us, and it demonstrates how quickly football can change in all aspects, good or bad.”

“That is why we remain calm. We’re satisfied with today’s game, but we know there are bigger games ahead.”

Ipswich manager Kieran McKenna was asked about Isak’s performance but was unsurprisingly less enthusiastic in his praise for the Swede following their crushing setback.

“He’s a very good striker,” he stated. “We’ve faced a lot of strong strikers this year, but he’s at a very high level.

“Everything we thought Newcastle were, and everyone knows they are at their best, they proved today. They have amazing athleticism and pace, not just in the front line, but also at full-back and midfield, and they have used that to open us up.

“We didn’t manage the game effectively enough when it was open to shut it down. If the game remains as open as it did in the first half, Newcastle will have the most chances because all of their forwards are huge threats.
