David Livermore expecting to still be in temporary charge for Norwich City fixture

David Livermore, Millwall’s interim head coach, said that it appears he will likely remain in command for the

Boxing Day match against Norwich City.

Following Neil Harris’ resignation, the former midfielder for the Lions was given temporary leadership.

As the South Londoners started to select a successor, Livermore, who had been Harris’ long-term assistant,

assumed the primary role.

Talks with Millwall have been held by former Stoke and Preston manager Alex Neil, Wycombe’s Matt Bloomfield,

and Steve Schumacher, who has had stints at Plymouth and Stoke.

Substitute Mihailo Ivanovic headed a stoppage-time winner against Blackburn Rovers this afternoon, giving

Livermore a successful start to his tenure. He responded, “I think it is a day by day thing,” when asked if he had been informed how long he would be in charge. No problem if a new manager arrived on Monday morning. Let’s get started. The chairman has informed

me that I will remain here after this season. We’ve talked about my contract expiring at the end of the season.

“I’ve been informed that I will be staying after this season, but that will be my next assignment. I imagine the new

guy will want to bring at least one person with him when he starts. I feel very at ease with that. I consider myself to

be mediocre to good at a variety of things. Whatever the next head coach wants me to do, I can shape it quite well.

“Based on our conversations, it appears that I will be leading Thursday’s match against Norwich, barring any

changes since my last meeting with the chairman.

However, that can alter once more. I’m not sure. People talk about being level, but it’s good to stop that (three

losses in a row) today. Even if you’re having a great run, you may experience a change in perspective after a few

losses. Given that our opponent is down to ten men and has utilized all of their substitutes, there is some chance involved.

To overload it and get our full-backs on, we made a small adjustment by placing Duncan (Watmore) down the left

and Aidomo (Emakhu) down the middle. At the time, they were only playing one up top.

“Hopefully, that helped us win the game, but sometimes luck is more important than skill.

“We had a slight advantage.” Livermore disclosed that he had a conversation with Harris on Friday.

“I’ll talk to him eventually. Neil, who I know, will most likely watch the game or download it to watch. I’ll

absolutely speak with him, get his opinion, and find out what he thought. That is significant.
